What do you mean by the term remembrance?
It’s a term coined to remind us of our forgetfulness of Self’s radiance, of the magnetic attraction to this radiance as expressed by the Beloved’s presence, as we do our best to attend to anything that might distract us from it.
Doesn’t remembrance imply a memory, referring to the past?
It can; past experiences of the presence can be a tool to evoke or re-ignite a present experience of it. It can also refer to another present condition, like knowing the light is on in the room even as I sit in my dark closet.
And what does all this accomplish, after all?
The fire of this presence evaporates the clouds of limitation that constantly circulate around us, neutralizes the programming that cramps our consciousness.
OK, but who or what is doing this practice of remembrance?
A critical point. It is something that ego-mind can only pretend to do. Another term can be coined for a new center of operation in us: our transitional or awakening-self. It's probably more accurate to say that the urge or impetus for remembrance comes from the Self in us that is not yet conscious of Itself. We’re the facilitators, the expediters that eventually get the message to invite and cooperate in this grand venture.
