Many painful life episodes are like soap opera scenes while others are truly tragic. Yet all this suffering is the outcome of our shadow play, our darkness.
When ego-mind relaxes the stage is set for something new. An unusual joy can combine with the often painful release of old bindings and baggage. A certain contentment can set in as the ego-mind structure goes into disrepair and starts to crumble.
This disrepair can lead to further opening the heart to a distinct distress: that of a lover missing one's beloved. This longing's fire would come from awakening's longing to awaken, not from ego-mind.
Such fire would create the burn off of our knots and bindings at their deepest core level.
Beyond all of this might come that experience where suffering and pleasure are altogether drowned in silence, engulfed in the vacuum of their own real nothingness.
