A living breathing network of programmed bits and pieces (impressions) surrounds us. These dust-like particles we give life to float suspended in mind's currents. The attention we pay them is a net that both attracts and contains. It's like a tonic that makes them buzz and swarm around us.
What happens when temporarily ignored? They shrivel up deprived of nourishment. Remember those lines from a children's game 'we all fall down?'
They 'all fall down' and play dead, dropping to the ground by their own dead weight, lifeless for the moment. Like children they jump up to play again whenever we start missing them.
What can really clear the air? The stunning influence of awakening: its pull can be so absorbing that we snap out of usual preoccupations. A riveting awareness takes over. The old is overwhelmed and the flame of a new intensity opens the heart, lightens the mind. (also pt.1)
