why "false" self?

The term "false self" is often brought up in these posts. What's false about it anyway? The false self is that part of us that is fully convinced that it is awake when it is actually asleep. It is convinced it is one dot among millions, acutely aware of its separateness. As a result it tends to always calculate how to best defend itself.

It is our Pandora's box containing splintered views of the world. It is the sum of all of our blind spots. But its greatest blindness stems from its unconscious separation from its source, the One Real Self. This creates a deep-rooted feeling of discomfort, of loss.

This false self is a factory mass-producing our wants and worries----with no satisfaction guaranteed. It is a kind of walking time-bomb, but one that will ultimately self-destruct. That's built into the program. Defusing its influence is the natural outcome of the process of awakening, of the activity of our Abiding Beloved One. When false self goes, only Real Self is left.

inconvenient or unavoidable?

When does an "inconvenient truth"  become an unavoidable fact? The inconvenient truth refers to how we experience the fact, the immediate and stark reality of being asleep at this very moment.

To sense that one is sleepwalking through life---living in "cruise control" mode---can have a very deep emotional impact. What was previously inconvenient then becomes unavoidable. But without taking this insight to heart the mind can just agree "yes this is the situation I am in" and nothing truly registers.

Fortunately there is something else that is unavoidable, and that is the urge to awaken that is in us. As this intensifies we can welcome it as both wonderful and as totally necessary.

If the Awakening Oneness in us is drawing us to Itself, if the Beloved One in us is calling us to our Self, who are we to refuse? What greater incentive, what greater ally could we have? And what greater access to the wine of true happiness could we wish for?

our common domain

How is awakening our "real common domain?"

One viewpoint: that it is an inevitable event for us all, that this is simply a matter of time and life-times. This event would be like a grand earthquake that levels the entire playing field of consciousness....and the one of the many becomes the One in its Unity State.

Another viewpoint: that awakening is like a series of tremors, a process of preparations. The starting point would be anywhere, because everything is part of the same big picture. This is a process common to us all. This is an activity we are all involved with whether consciously or unconsciously.

Both viewpoints about awakening apply to us. We are all in the same boat, the same domain.  Whatever we seek and desire is a reflection, no mater how distorted, of that Oneness that finally, or suddenly, becomes our True Common Domain.
